Grindle
The Green Giant Grindle,
Lives amongst tall trees,
He looks very frightening,
But he only eats green leaves.
He is a Forest Guardian,
Doing the best he can,
Defending his woodland home,
From the axes of Man.
The Green Giant Grindle,
Is really ever so shy,
If you hear rustling leaves,
Grindle could be passing by.

If birds then take flight,
In a mad quickening rush,
Grindle could be hiding,
Beneath the underbrush.
No need to be afraid,
So relax and be at ease,
It’s only Giant Grindle
Taking care of his trees.

A Boy’s Dream
What makes Jimmy happy,
More than anything at all,
By himself, or with friends,
Is when he is kicking a ball.

For Jimmy, loves football,
And if he had his way,
He would like nothing more,
Than playing football everyday.
Because he plays so much,
His skills are so very good,
He lives and breathes football,
He has footballs in his blood!
One day, he hopes he might,
Play for his favourite team,
Dreams sometimes come true,
And this is Jimmy’s dream.

Smiling
When Katie awoke with a yawn,
She saw sitting upon her pillow,
A fairy with a golden wand,
Who smiled and said. ‘Hello!’

‘Hello,’ little Katie replied,
Her voice quite excited,
Seeing her very first fairy
She felt most delighted.
‘Can you help,’ asked the fairy?
‘I need to give a wish away.
To a girl who likes to smile,
At least once every day.’
‘That must be me,’ Katie laughed,
‘Oh, I truly love to smile.
Once I smiled when I was sad!
Well . . . for a little while.’
‘So make a wish,’ the fairy said,
Her wand twirling in her hand,
Katie wished, every nice girl,
Knew the way to Fairyland.
So thanks to Katie, all nice girls,
Who follow the Fairy Way,
Can close their eyes and journey,
To Fairyland everyday.

Falling Snow
The world’s, most
Wise unicorn,
Is known as
Falling Snow.
Jessica rides
Upon her back,
The world passes
By below.
The night wind
Flows freely,
Through Jessica’s
Unruly hair,
Holding tight to
Falling Snow,
A friendship made
To share.

See them leap
Through clouds,
Star shine guides
Their flight,
Sleeping safely with
Falling Snow,
Jessica dreams,
Away, the night.

Butterflies and Fairies
I thought I saw a butterfly
land by our garden pond,
but I had never seen a butterfly
With a magic wand!
It seems it was a fairy
dressed in lavender and pink,
and feeling rather thirsty,
had stopped by for a drink.
“Do you care for some tea,” I asked,
while she chatted to the fishes?
“Perhaps another time,” she said,
“when I’m not busy making wishes.”
“But, thank you for your kindness,
can’t stop: must go! Goodbye!”
Like a bubble popping, vanished,
in the blinking of an eye.

Animal Drivers
Olivia often wonders,
What it would be like,
Watching an orang-utan,
Riding on a motorbike.

Such unusual images,
Always bring a smile,
Like seeing a milk-float,
Driven by a crocodile.
A camel steering a tractor,
A fish flying a plane,
Or a big African Elephant,
Trying to drive a train!
So if you see Olivia,
Daydreaming with a grin,
A donkey might be taking,
A double-decker for a spin!

Dreams Do Come True
You know, dreams do come true,
And of course, dreaming is free,
Rachel dreams of dolphins,
Swimming in the bluest sea.
She would ride upon their backs,
Crashing through wave after wave,
She would not even be scared,
The dolphins would make her brave.

They would chase schools of fish,
Go leaping into the sky,
Fins flashing, water splashing,
A happy twinkle in her eye.
So every night Rachel dreams,
And no other dream will do,
But swimming with her dolphins,
You know, dreams do come true.

Finding Treasure
Lucas dreamed of being a Pirate,
And so did Benjamin, his friend.
They so longed for an adventure,
With lots of treasure at its end.
So they chose to take a voyage,
Upon a magical sailing ship.
Looking for long lost treasure,
On a round the World trip!
They saw unusual creatures,
That roamed across the sea,
And found a mystery island,
As strange as strange can be.
Golden parrots in the trees,
And silver fishes in the bay,
A sign on the beach, saying,
“Treasure”. Come this way!
Lucas and Benjamin climbed
Up cliffs so very, very high!
And it seemed the dizzy ledges,
Touched the cloudless sky!
While searching for treasure,
They found, to their surprise,
That sharing their adventure,
Had made them very wise.

For the very best of treasure,
They had both found together,
A friend who’s willing to share,
Will be a loyal friend forever!

I Know A Witch
The witch that lives down the road,
Has such long flowing red hair,
A Raggy Doll that cries a lot,
And a talking Teddy Bear.
I’ve seen her using a broom,
But only to do the sweeping,
I don’t spy on her all that much,
Just a bit of playful peeping.

And also, she has two cats,
One striped, and one jet black,
She talks to them all the time,
I don’t hear them answer back.
Once she gave me chocolate,
That I ate: I’m kind that way,
Sharing with my imaginary friend,
Who vanished that very same day!
I’m sure she does magic spells,
Making it sunny and the sky so blue,
With a breeze to dry her washing,
She does: I tell you it’s true!
Also, she has her own boyfriend,
I bet she made him from an ugly toad,
I wonder if she’d make one for me?
The witch that lives down the road.

Magic Carpet
On a cold winter’s night,
The ground white with snow,
Laura thought of a friend,
She lost so long, long ago.
Through her bedroom window,
Gazing longingly at the sky,
She wished upon the stars,
For a carpet that could fly.
If she owned such a carpet,
Perhaps, for a little while,
She would make a journey,
Travelling mile after mile.
Watched by moon and stars,
She would fly far, far away,
To visit her long lost friend,
It would be such a special day.

Laura’s thoughts escaped,
As on the carpet she flew,
And through make-belief
She made her wish come true.
On a cold winter’s night,
The ground white with snow,
Laura thought of a friend,
She lost so long, long ago.

Roaring Lion
Callum liked big lions,
Until he heard one roar,
Now he cannot decide,
If he likes them anymore.
They look so wild and scary,
Sharp claws and pointy teeth,
And their loud terrible roar,
Is frightening beyond belief!

Then a lion, came towards him,
With its mouth, open wide,
It roared so very loudly,
Callum shivered deep inside.
In fact, he shivered so much,
He fell right out of bed,
Thank goodness it was a dream,
Now, he likes Zebras instead.

Seeing Unicorns
At the end of Kiln Street,
Past an old smoky stack,
Hiding through a sooty thicket,
Is a long forgotten track.
It rambles out of sight,
Running deep into the Shire,
Hedged along both sides,
By bracken bush and briar.
The track leads to a place,
Far beyond a grown-ups eyes,
Where wondrous winged creatures,
Graze beneath sunny skies.
If you should choose to visit,
Be so careful if you will,
Of the pure white Unicorns,
I believe they live there still.

The legend of the Unicorns
Is so true in every way,
One glimpse of their beauty,
Will melt your cares away.
If you cannot find this place,
Don’t worry, as every night,
Clouds are full of Unicorns,
Playing with pale moonlight.

Summer Fairy Ball
Upon the break of dawn,
Every mid-summer’s-eve,
Gathered fairy Clans,
Have magic spells to weave.
In Deep dark forests,
And gardens’ large and small,
There are lots’ of preparations,
For the Summer Fairy Ball,

On the stroke of midnight,
Many journeys’ will begin,
Travelling by magic,
That is held deep within.
Some ride on moonbeams’,
Others’ by secret ways,
While off-world-creatures’,
Come through twilight haze.
On the stroke of one,
A Frog band starts to play,
And the Fairy Summer Ball,
Is now truly underway.
Pixies’, Sprites’ and Elves’,
Dance in twos’ and threes’,
Some in moonlit fairy rings,
Others’' beneath tall trees.
They waltz to violins,
Swing along to oompah’pahs,
Leaping, twirling, swirling,
To the rhythm of soft guitars.
When the sun again rises,
The Fairy folk are gone,
But the magic that they leave,
Will forever linger on.
If you find a Fairy ring,
And only if you’re kind,
You can make a wish.
On the magic left behind.
Your wish must be a whisper,
Floating upon a breeze,
Carried off to Fairyland,
By the buzz of bees’.
For your wish to be granted,
All depends on you,
If you are generous and giving,
The wish will come true,
So hunt out those Fairy rings,
On every patch of lawn,
And make a wish tomorrow,
Upon the break of dawn.

Magic Wand
While playing in her garden,
On a lovely summer’s day,
Samantha saw a tiny Fairy
Drop her wand and fly away.
“Please wait!” Samantha shouted,
Jumping down from her swing,
On picking up the magic wand,
She saw the most amazing thing!
The garden appeared changed,
Much to Samantha’s surprise,
Fairies Elves and Pixies,
Danced before her very eyes.

“Goodness me,” said Samantha
The wand waving in her hand,
For it seemed that her garden,
Was joined onto Fairyland.
“Why thank you,” the Fairy said,
Hovering gently in the air,
Taking back her magic wand,
With the very best of care.
“Because you are truly honest,”
I will grant one wish for you,
But please, try and be quick,
I have a lot of work to do.”
“I wish to know your name!
If you please,” Samantha said,
The fairy quickly whispered,
“Buttercup~Farthing~Thread.”
Samantha smiled with delight,
Then Buttercup flew away,
And the garden changed back,
Looking ordinary in everyway.
Snuggled in bed that night,
Drifting within sleepy streams,
Buttercup~Farthing~Thread,
Danced through Samantha’s dreams.
